Career

In 1998, the West Delhi Cricket Academy was established, with Virat Kohli as part of its first batch. Kohli received his training under Rajkumar Sharma.

Kohli made his debut in cricket in October 2002, representing the Delhi Under-15 team in the 2002-03 Polly Umrigar Trophy. He led the team for the next trophy and was later selected for the Delhi Under-17 team in the 2003-04 Vijay Merchant Trophy. Kohli emerged as the highest run-scorer in the tournament.

At the age of 18, Kohli made his first-class debut for Delhi against Tamil Nadu, where he scored 10 runs. In July 2006, he made his debut in the Under-19 team during India’s tour of England, where India won both ODI and Test series. The following year, Kohli made his T20 debut and emerged as the highest run-scorer in the Inter-State T20 Championship, with 179 runs.
